Samskip introduces new custom-built 45ft container chassis from D-TEC

13.7.2015

Samskip recently added a new custom-built low-weight 45ft container chassis from D-TEC to its fleet; followed by another 19 this September.

Delivery follows a close collaboration between Samskip and D-TEC to optimise the chassis' specifications, with particular focus on unit weight, design and ease-of-use.

D-TEC's S-line container chassis is known for its lightweight, robust design and is easy to use; i.e., the chassis only has a few service parts, limiting maintenance costs.

Lightweight
The new 45ft container chassis weighs under 3800 kgs. - 400 kgs. lighter than usual - making it the lightest 45ft container chassis set up with standard components at the best price/quality ratio currently in the market; thereby increasing payload capacity.

“With every 1000 kilogrammes reduction, the chassis saves 1 litre of diesel per 100 kilometres”, as stated by Gerrit van Vlastuin, Managing Director D-TEC. “Through clever design and by using high quality steel with a high strength, we have successfully introduced this lightweight chassis”.

Robust
The current 45ft chassis regularly cause damages to the truck and/or loading dock. One of the most important reasons is that often the locking pins on the front of the trailer have not been put back in the right position. Through clever engineering, D-TEC constructed special locking pins which automatically return to the correct position.

What is more, in reversing, the chassis automatically changes to a second driving height, avoiding any damages to the loading docks.
