Anglo-Atlantic Steamship Company Limited orders new-buildings

October 2013

Anglo-Atlantic Steamship Company Limited has placed an order for two 50,000 dwt, IMO II class, Chemical Tankers from Samjin Shipbuilding Industries Co. Ltd., in China, with options for two more vessels.

The two first vessels are scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2015, and the two options in the first half of 2016.

Upon delivery, the vessels will be technically and commercially managed by Laurin Maritime.

The average age of the vessels in Anglo-Atlantic’s fleet is 6.4 years and these Eco-design, high specification chemical carriers will form a natural part of its fleet renewal program. Moreover, as freight markets are recovering, we have already seen increases in new-building prices. The timing of ordering these vessels is ideal and they will be delivered at a time when we expect the markets to have strengthened considerably.
