Eimskip vessel Polfoss re-floated

Eimskips vessel Polfoss has re-floated. A tug boat pulled her from the site and she was re-floated at about 11.15 local time. Polfoss will proceed by own power to Sandnessjoen where she will be inspected. After inspection she will continue on route to Alesund.

At 0600 local time (16.11.2012) Eimskips vessel Polfoss ran a ground at the island Altra in the north of Norway.

The crew is safe. At this moment there is no damage known to the vessel and the cargo is undamaged . Polfoss ran a ground on a sand reef. There crew has not seen any oil leek form the vessel.

Polfoss was on the way form Melbu to Alesund at the time of the accident. The wether on site is good. The crew is assessing the situation. The next hi tide is at 13.45 local time. At this time there is no news on the reason for the accident but the company is insured for damages of this kind.
