The visiting dignitaries toured DP World’s flagship Jebel Ali Port accompanied by Mr. Sharaf and a number of senior DP World officials including Rashid Abdulla, Senior Vice President Global Operations and Butti Al Jumairi, Director Government Rel ations. They were briefed on the sophisticated technology and innovation that has driven the port’s operational efficiencies, as well as its major expansion projects, including the recent addition of 1 million TEU (twenty-foot equivalent container units) to Terminal 2 capacity, and the ongoing development of Terminal 3 that will add a further 4 million TEU bringing the port’s capacity to 19 million TEU in 2014. The delegation listened to a presentation on Jebel Ali’s role as a gateway to the region and DP World’s activities across its global portfolio of more than 65 terminals, including new developments underway in India, Africa, Europe, South America and the Middle East. Talks between the two sides covered issues of mutual interest and possible opportunit ies for further enhancing cooperation. DP World operates Terminales Rio de la Plata (TRP), the largest container terminal in Argentina, located in the heart of downtown Buenos Aires. The terminal handles container and general cargo, and cruise vessels. In March 2011, DP World inaugurated TRP's Quinquela Martin Cruise Terminal, South America's largest and most modern cruise terminal, which covers over 12,300 sq m, and has the capacity to handle 600,000 passengers a year.
