Sharjah, UAE - 31 January 2016

Dana Gas PJSC notifies the market of a temporary interruption of the flow of gas from the Khor Mor plant in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

The sale gas pipeline between the Chemchemal and Erbil power stations was ruptured near the sub-district of Shwan in Kirkuk province in the early hours of 29 January 2016. This resulted in the isolation of the gas pipeline and the shut-down of the Khor Mor plant for a few hours. No casualties or injuries have been reported.

The Joint Operators’ emergency response team was activated immediately following the incident. The impacted section along the pipeline between Chemchemal and Erbil was isolated from the Khor Mor plant, which restarted approximately 8 hours after the incident. The Khor Mor plant is currently supplying the Chemchemal power plant with gas and is operating normally, albeit with reduced production levels of around 50% of capacity, including liquids production.

The local authorities and the Ministry of Natural Resources, Kurdistan Regional Government have been notified of the incident and a full investigation has been launched. Whilst the precise cause of the incident is not yet known, initial results have concluded that the incident did not result from either an operational or a pipeline integrity issue. A repair plan has been agreed, contractors have been mobilized to the site and repair works are already under way with a target to restore full production within one week.
